Cordes-Sur-CielLot-et-Garonne Towns  The quality of towns and villages here gives the Dordogne a good run for its money! It possesses some real gems, several of which are considered to be the prettiest villages in the whole of France, such as Cordes-sur-Ciel, Puy l'Eveque or our personal favourite St Cirq-Lapopie.  No visit to Lot-et-Garonne can be complete without spending at least some time in one or other of these!

Penne

Location: On the Aveyron river 40km east of Montauban.
General Info: Penne website. Tourist Office – Tel: 05 53 41 37 80

Description:
Penne is a bastide town and is set on one of the old pilgrimage routes to Spain.  There is an annual pilgrimage here on the 15th of August  The impressive Notre-Dame-de-Peyragude at the top of the village is modelled on the Sacré-Coeur church in Montmartre in Paris.

Our recommendations:
Climb the labyrinth of staircases, alleys, and 13th and 14th-century houses to Peyragude for some splendid viewpoints

Worth a visit
