Les Gets - France For Families' favourite skiing resorts

*Our Favourite Resorts - Les Gets...* part of the Portes du Soleil domaine & great for kids. The transfer is short (1hr) from Geneva which is good after an early start. *Factfile...* Resort height: 1172m - 2002m Access: Easy access from Geneva via A40 to Cluses, then D902 to Les Gets. Downhill runs: Mainly blues and reds - good for families. Size of domaine: 650km including Portes du Soleil. Snow cannon: Lifts: Too many to number! Lift Pass: €138 adult, 104 child (6 days). 10% discount for families. Portes du Soleil passes more expensive. Office du Tourisme:** Website.	*Where to stay...*There is a huge choice of accommodation in Les Gets, ranging from a 3 star campsite (!) to 3 star hotels. As we haven't stayed in Les Gets ourselves we can't recommend any particular location. One place you might like to consider is The Chalet Experience - we are told it is an excellent set up for families wanting child care in Les Gets. Or you could try Ski Alpine Charms. Another good option is Ski Famille.	Which Region to Choose

Skiing Lessons: Our children started lessons with ESF but the instructor didn't speak English and the lessons were boring. We paid slightly more to use British Alpine Ski School (BASS) which was fantastic and offered lessons at a ratio of 1:3 - great for young beginners.

Food Choice: There are small Sherpa and Shoppi supermarkets in the resort as well as a selection of specialist food stores. There is a take away pizzeria in the main street and a huge choice of eat-in restaurants.

Ski Equipment: As in most ski resorts there is plenty of choice. Delavay Sports, Grenier a Skis, Intersport, Nevada Sports, Ski Center and Ski Fun Shop all offer online booking facilities. We recommend to choose a ski shop local to your accommodation, especially if you book over the internet. You really don't want to waste the first morning of your holiday trapsing half way across the resort to get your skis.

Ski Famille Les Gets is the main base for family ski specialist Ski Famille. All of their holidays include 5 days of childcare and most properties have their own fully equipped playroom. They have eight catered chalets in total, sleeping between 8 and 22 guests. You can book as an individual family or put together a group to fill a whole chalet. Other Comments: The Grand Cry area is a play area for 5-12 yr olds, based around the theme of trappers and Indians, where they can negotiate bumps, loops and raised bends on skis so that they¹re learning while having fun.

Every Friday, a special treasure hunt is organized...

Access for beginners: from the Mouille au Blé and Grand Cry drag lifts (via the conveyor belt at the Chavannes cablecar exit).
