Run by a semi-pro cyclist, Roger Dunne and his wife Theresa, Velo Vercors offers something very unique to the family market.

Having trained and raced in the region, Roger is readily available to pass on his knowledge to keen cyclists who want to sample the more demanding routes in this incredible region.

For a more relaxing family experience there are a number of on and off road routes from 8km upwards. Most routes are combined with other activities such as swimming in lakes, jumping off waterfalls or picnics. There is also a newly opened ‘Eco’ route following the Isere river which is perfect for family days out.

Where are the Vercors?

This huge natural park of over 6000 square kilometers, lies in the south west of France, between Grenoble and the French Alps.

The area resembles something from a sports car commercial. You’ll see winding roads cutting through spectacular river gorges, including the Combe Laval, the largest in Europe.

As well as the gorges and Alpine climbs there are the rolling hills of the Drome and the flatter Isere Valley offering a huge choice of routes for those looking for a more family-friendly experience. All the routes are along the most scenic, quietest roads passing through mediaeval towns, walnut orchards and river valleys with never ending photo opportunities, cafe and restaurant stops.

The Vercors are a superb place to cycle for many reasons. The scenery is incredible, the gradients are friendly, the choice of routes second to none, traffic is low and road surfaces are excellent.
