Although there are some nice Châteaux in the area, they are not to the standard of those in the Dordogne, nor are they so well designed with children in mind.  However, there are some worth a visit for their setting itself.  The ones we suggest are:

Château de Bonaguil

Description: A spectacular 15th century castle built in a lovely situation, precariously perched on a rock face, with fine views and located beside a very quaint village.     Location: Château de Bonaguil is located 6km north east of Fumel.
General Info: Open from 10AM to 6PM in peak season.
Our recommendations: Visit at the end of July for the fireworks and town festival.

Château de Grézels

Description: A thirteenth century medieval chateau built by the bishops of Cahors and now housing a wine museum.

Location: About 30km west of Cahors on the south side of the river beside the D8.

Château de Cénevières

Description: In a lovely setting overlooking the river Lot this is an enchanting and beautiful chateau with a fine interior.Location: On the river Lot to the east of St Cirq-Lapopie.
General Info: Telephone for opening times: 05 65 31 27 33.
