Description: A village of considerable beauty, Cordes-sur-Ciel is a medieval hilltop town with a charming central square dating from the 14th century. It is also exceedingly popular – it can get very busy, especially during the famous Bastille Day (July 14) medieval festival.

Location: 25 km north west of Albi – this is the best approach road for dramatic views of the village.

Our recommendations: There is no parking at the top of the village so leave your car halfway up – don’t be tempted to leave it at the bottom unless you are very fit!  Market day is Saturday.

For the children: 2km from the town Le Garissou offers a small water theme park for those hot sunny days.
