Ski Holidays in Les Trois Valleys

Les Trois Vallées (The Three Valleys) is a ski region in the Tarentaise Valley in the French Alps and is famous for being the largest ski area in the world, dating back to the birth of skiing in the alps back in 1925.

As the name implies, the area originally consisted of three valleys: Saint-Bon, Allues, and Belleville, but since then the region has been extended into a ‘fourth’ valley. T he Maurienne valley borders Val Thorens and is reached using a gondola lift from Orelle. The following ski resorts are in Les Trois Vallées: Courchevel, La Tania, Méribel, Brides-les-Bains, Les Menuires – Saint Martin, Val Thorens and Orelle.

A huge amount of ski terrain can be covered in The Three Valleys there is 600 kms of pistes and 200 ski lifts. The pistes are kept in immaculate condition and this area has always enjoyed a consistently good snow record. It’s a good area for skiers and borders of all levels, plenty to stretch the more advanced and lots of lovely areas for beginner and intermediate skiers.

The ski centres in the Three Valleys all tend to be self -contained with a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. There are ski schools in each resort which are well used to catering to British nationals with good levels of English being spoken.
Families are well catered for in the ski resorts with the plenty of activities on offer for children, both on and off the piste. Kids can enjoy a range of many different ski and snow clubs and when they have worn themselves out on the slopes they can switch to swimming, ice skating, dog sledding and more!
