Description: Yvoire is one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France (the most beautiful villages in France) and is worth a detour for its lovely setting on the lakeside. Within the medieval ramparts is hidden a unique treasure of narrow alleyways and streets, with balconies bedecked with flowers.

Location: On a promontory on the southern shores of Lac Léman between Geneva and Evian-les-Bains.

For children: This is not a children’s paradise and will most likely be viewed as yet another village! However they may be persuaded to accompany you on a visit to the ‘Garden of the Five Senses’ www.jardin5sens.net in the grounds of the town’s 14th century chateau. Here a couple of skilfully designed quiz sheets have been produced to keep children entertained as you wander the recently restored ancient potager (kitchen garden) and orchards.
