So what do you do when dad (or mum!) is golf mad but you love family holidays together?

Souillac Golf & Country Club has come up with a pretty good solution.   Their ‘residence de vacance’ combines a smart 18 hole golf course and a holiday center in the stunning Dordogne – a setting that is sure to keep all the family happy.

Whilst mum or dad enjoys a round of golf across this beautiful course, the kids can have fun in the swimming pool, knock a few balls around the on site tennis courts, or take part in a range of off site activities such as mountain biking, rambling walks, horseriding, canoeing and much more.

Of course, you’re not far from Souillac, a picture-perfect town located in the heart of the Dordogne Valley.  When you’ve prised the golf clubs out of the enthusiasts’ hands, you can enjoy family time exploring this medieval town. Throughout the region there are stunning riverside castles, fascinating caves and bustling market places.

So, the golf details.

Set in the middle of an oak forest, Souillac Golf and Country Club covers more than 60 hectares and features panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.  It’s not a long course but well presented and was designed by the acclaimed golf course architect Jeremy Pern.  The course’s claim to fame is that it is generally acknowledged to be one of the best in South West France.

For the children…

We know that most kids like anything to do with splashing about in the water and the lovely outdoor pool here – simple but in a great setting – will suit them to a tee (pun intended!).  If you’re a sporty family then you’ll enjoy a match on the tennis courts, and further afield you have everything that the Dordogne Valley has to offer.

The accommodation

There are just 90 holiday homes spread around the course in little hamlets, so it feels busy enough to provide a friendly ambiance but not too busy to start getting overcrowded.  Each house has its own garden and car parking space, plus decking to enjoy that glass of local vino whilst the sun sets across the valley.

Another plus is that family pets are welcome in selected accommodation.
