Even though it has a climate similar to that of the UK and good weather cannot always be guaranteed, the Nord Pas de Calais still has some excellent beaches that make a great destination for a family day out.

Wimereux

Description: A wonderful stylish seaside resort (no amusement arcades/tacky shops) with an excellent beach where parasurfing takes place. The beach is clean and ideal for families who enjoy digging sandcastles, searching for shells and exploring rockpools. The promenade is totally pedestrianised and is lined with elegant homes.

There are plenty of nice eateries, and for those interested in history there is a war cemetery just north of Wimereux on D242.

Location: On D940 6km N of Boulogne

Le Touquet Paris-Plage

Description: As its full name suggests Le Touquet, created in the 1800’s, was very popular with the affluent Parisian set who came here to enjoy life in a fashionable sea-side resort. The town even has its own unique style of architecture and the residential areas err more towards a British rather than French style. All the trappings that go with the lifestyle of the rich and famous are found here – grand hotels, select designer shops, a casino and a racecourse, and even a small airfield for those who fancy flying in for the evening! However there is also much to interest the casual visitor with a magnificent long sandy beach, an outdoor swimming pool and amusements for the children. This stylish resort will not disappoint.
