Les Jardins des Luxembourg

Description: Les Jardins du Luxembourg gardens are one of our favourite spots in Paris – a real haven – and it really is possible to find a bit of peace and quiet here. No wonder this is a special place for Parisians and their families, especially on Sundays.

While there are very formal sections to the gardens in terms of ornamental lakes, statues, beautifully kept flower beds and boulevards, and of course the Palais de Luxembourg itself, the gardens never seem too stuffy. Muted green, painted metal chairs are dotted everywhere and no-one seems to mind if you move them around.

Location: 25 hectares in the fashionable left bank 6th arrondissement

General Info: Opening hours vary depending on the season.

Our recommendations: This is a favourite spot to enjoy the concerts that take place during the warmer months of the year.

For the children: Miniature boats can be hired and sailed on the ponds, there are pony rides for children, a keep fit course, tennis courts, a large fenced in playground, boules, a bandstand, a puppet theatre and a gorgeous little café with both indoor and outdoor seating.
