Bétou, great for couples or groups of 4 - From £680-£889 per Week

Bétou is situated in a beautiful rural location, 20 minutes walking distance from the small village of Orignolles, 2km west of Montguyon in Charente-Maritime.

Bétou is an excellent base to explore the South West of France – to the north towards Angoulème, west towards La Rochelle and the Vendee coast, south towards Bordeaux (just 1 hour drive) and the beaches of the Gironde or east towards the Dordogne.

The Owner lives nearby, and there is another gîte on site however it is not being rented. The garden and pool area are primarily for your private use, however they may be shared with the Owner’s family for a few select weeks each year.

Bétou boasts a very spacious open plan living area with a large fitted kitchen and sitting area.

The kitchen features an electric hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and a wide selection of crockery. There is also a washing machine in the kitchen. Smaller appliances such as coffee maker, kettle and toaster are also available.

There is a dining table that seats 4, a sofa and comfortable arm chairs. A satellite television is available, as well as wifi.

There are two sleeping areas. There is a spacious double bedroom overlooking the pool on the ground floor (accessed via minimal steps from the sitting area). There is also a twin room on an open mezzanine area over the kitchen.

A spacious “wet room” shower with separate WC completes the indoor accommodation.

A cot, high chair and other baby equipment is available on the premises.

The swimming pool measures a generous 12 x 6m which adjoins the open level garden with plenty of space for games and play. There is also a solar poolside shower, and a badminton set.

The pool can be heated for an additional fee, specified in the booking form below.

Outside the doors from the sitting room, there is a small terrace which enjoys shade in the heat of the day, with furniture for outdoor dining. A charcoal barbecue is also available.

The pool and garden are usually private to the Guests of Bétou, with the exception of use by the Owner and their family during a few select weeks per year.

AROUND THE AREA

A redundant railway line nearby has been made into ‘La Voie Vert de Haute Saintonge’, and offers 35km of safe off road level cycling to explore from Clérac to Barbezieux with picnic areas along the way.

Other attractions include the Château de Montguyon and the Leisure lake at Beauvallon, with an inland sandy beach and boat hire.

A little further afield are the impressive fortifications at Blaye, and the spa town of Jonzac. As with many regions of France there are plenty of opportunities for wine tasting and finding fresh local produce and delicacies at local outdoor markets.
