The stunning Domaine de Peyloubère is a 35-acre château estate located near Auch in the heart of Gascony, south-west France. There are five cottages accommodating from four to eight guests, a 12 x 6metre heated swimming pool (enclosed by a fence and self closing gates) as well as the health centre with sauna, exercise equipment, secluded garden and sunbathing terrace.
The holiday cottages at Peyloubère are designed with families in mind. They are practical, comfortable, spacious and uncluttered and the gardens of ‘Giulietta’ and ‘les Cèdres’ are enclosed for the safety of younger children. We have been delighted to welcome numerous families with children of all ages over the past twenty years and have learned from experience what makes the task of holidaying with young children a pleasure rather than a challenge.
First, baby paraphernalia ! Four cots (with linen), four high chairs (suitable for newborn babies up to small children), baby bath, changing mat are all provided at no charge. A microwave, children’s cutlery, plastic bowls and beakers are standard in all cottages as are a television and DVD player with a large library of films, invaluable for those quiet moments.
Indoor and outdoor games are provided for all our visitors and there are two large toy chests containing soft toys, puzzles, lego, farmyard animals and books for our younger guests.
All this as well as 35 acres of woodland, lakes and gardens and lots to do and see nearby from the childrens’ playground in Pavie village to go-karting, acro-branche, riding stables and paintball all within ten minutes and, further afield, leisure lakes, river trips, drive-thru safari and zoo, Aqualand and Walibi theme park as well of course as more demanding sports and hiking in the Pyrénées.
‘Fermier’ is a spacious family cottage sleeping up to 8 which lies alongside the main pool and was the lodging of the estate farmer. On the ground floor, the high ceilinged sitting and dining room has comfortable seating grouped around the original beamed fireplace with wood burning stove and a large dining table and chairs. An archway leads into the modern kitchen with separate laundry room and out onto the patio and garden.
There are two double rooms, one on the first floor with a 1.5m bed and ensuite shower room with basin and WC; and the second on the ground floor making the cottage ideal for two families to share. The landing leads up a few steps to the beamed attic room created with two children in mind – but nevertheless a favourite with adult guests as well – and there is a further twin bedroom on the first floor.
