Description

Perfect for a relaxing holiday in an undiscovered and unspoilt department in the Midi-Pyrenees region of southwest France, Gite Figuier is a magical place is perfect for a holiday any time of year.

Gite Figuier is a 1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom gite for 2-4 persons.  Originally a barn, the gite comprises a 35 sq m lounge/kitchen/diner on the ground floor and a large luxury bedroom with dressing area and ensuite bathroom on the first floor.

Accessed directly from the garden the entrance leads into the main room with original oak beams and cool tiled floor. Windows offer great views over the garden and the valley beyond. Stairs lead to the first floor ensuite bedroom with wooden floor and east and south facing windows. The bedroom has been decorated to complement the exposed oak beams, high ceiling, stone walls and four-poster wrought iron bed.

Outside the entrance steps lead down to a large private terrace with garden furniture, barbeque and stunning views across our garden and valley beyond.

Although perfect for couples, in addition to the four-poster there is a single bed so can easily accommodate 3 persons. In addition we can add another single bed to accommodate 2 adults and 2 children if required. Barriers can be put at the top and bottom of the stairs for those with small children.

You can also book the sister property, Gite Honeysuckle, which makes this property perfect for grandparents or friends holidaying together.

There is an indoor and outdoor pool just 3 minutes from the house.

Local Attractions

Visit antique markets, village fetes, night markets, Autumn festivals and Christmas markets throughout the Aveyron including the local town of Rieupeyroux.

The Aveyron is famous for the spectacular Millau viaduct – the highest road bridge in the world, Roquefort – the king of cheeses and the Laguiole knife. It has 10 of the official “Most Beautiful Villages” in France, more than any other department.

Beyond the Aveyron, our neighbouring Midi-Pyrenees departments of the Lot, Tarn and Tarn-et-Garonne have many more top class attractions. To the north is the pilgrimage site of Rocamadour, one of the most visited sites in France. To the west you can sample the deep red wines of Cahors or visit the number 1 most beautiful village in France – Saint-Cirque-Lapopie. To the south is the stunning medieval walled city of Cordes-sur-Ciel and the episcopal city of Albi, recently classified as a UNESCO world heritage site, with its unique cathedral Sainte Cecile and the Berbie palace housing the Toulouse Lautrec museum. To the east are the truly breathtaking Tarn Gorges.
