La Vieille Fromagerie – Gite 1
La Vieille Fromagerie – Gite 1 - From £525 - £875 per Week
La Vieille Fromagerie offers 3 professionally-renovated gites in a beautiful part of France. Each well-equipped gite has its own outside seating area, access to a gym, large garden area and plenty of games and activities and a large outdoor heated swimming pool.
Gîte 1: For up to four adults or two adults and four children
This is the largest of the gites and features exposed stone walls and large French doors leading out onto a private patio area with garden furniture and barbecue. The ground floor is a large, light and airy open-plan room with a very comfortable lounge area, fully-fitted and equipped kitchen and spacious dining area. This gite has one double en-suite and one twin en-suite family bedroom, with two bunk beds.
The gite has Wifi, TV and central heating.
For those keeping fit there is a well-equipped gym features treadmill, cross trainer, rowing machine, weights bench, punch bag, punch balls and floor exerciser. Meanwhile the less-energetic can enjoy table football, air hockey and pool table.
Outside, there’s something for everyone, a large, safe sports and children’s play area features swings/slide, badminton, football and netball nets, swingball and boules. A range of toys and pool inflatables are also provided; high chairs and cots are also available for those with young children. For anyone wanting to get away off-season, we offer central heating and flexible check-in/out days.
Welcome packs are provided, and we offer a free barbecue the day after you arrive (weather permitting), to help you relax and get to know the place.
The Poitou-Charentes region attracts visitors all year round, who come to enjoy everything from the countryside and cycling on the lovely quiet roads, to great tourist attractions like Futuroscope and la Vallée des Singes.
History buffs, too, enjoy discovering such delights as Roman remains and medieval churches (we have one just down the road), or exploring the area’s Resistance connections during the Second World War.
You will find wildlife abounds here: deer, red squirrels and boar are a common sight, and the native birds are enough to get any twitcher reaching for the binoculars!
As its name suggests, La Vieille Fromagerie was originally a small creamery, making goats’ cheese. While that’s no longer the case, little fromageries are still very common in the area, where you can buy traditionally-made cheese and even buy fresh milk in your own jug – something that vanished in Britain decades ago.
Futuroscope – one of France’s most popular attractions – is a great family day out
Chez Coudret is ideally situated for vising the area’s many attractions, such as the Vallée des Singes monkey park just nearby, Futuroscope near Poitiers, and the vineyards of Bordeaux or the Loire as well as the distilleries and blending houses in the Cognac region.
Canoeing, swimming, bowling and archery are all available nearby, as well as traditional pursuits of walking, pétanque and cycling. We can arrange bike hire for you to explore the local lanes, which carry very little traffic (You’ll be pleased to know that French drivers are also very considerate to cyclists).
For motor sport fans, the Valle de Vienne circuit is within easy reach, and Angôuleme’s annual Circuit de Ramparts and its attendent rally attract historic cars and fans from all over the world.
