Le Moulin de la Quentiniere comprises two properties – Le Moulin, a superbly converted flour mill and La Petite Maison, a gorgeous farmhouse, with each property modernised with luxurious fixtures and fittings and set in a quarter acre of land.

Built some time in the 1800s, the estate of Le Moulin de la Quentiniere was originally owned by the Montecot family who still have property in the area. Briefly occupied during the second world war, flour production ceased and the main working mill, le minoterie de la quentiniere, fell derelict and was only used to house chickens.

Fast forward over 50 years or so and the Kipping Family are now the proud, happy owners.

We started by refurbishing what we now call ‘La Petite Maison’ so that we were able to have wonderful family holidays, christmas and birthday celebrations in our little part of Desertines in Pays de la Loire. Our children wondered at all the space they had to run around and explore and we were all able to come together in the lovely farmhouse kitchen to create mouthwatering meals from the great French food on offer, eat together in the dining room and then snuggle down in front of the roaring wood burner in the sitting room.

After a few months, we turned our attention to le minoterie, renamed by us to ‘Le Moulin’. All the family members were called upon – including both dads and even an uncle or two – along with a number of artisans to breath life into Le Moulin. Floorboards were ripped out, walls stripped, the old staircase ripped out amidst lots of shovelling of sand and cement and huge amount of plastering and rendering of walls. The roof was repaired and, in places, completely relaid. Weekends were spent driving to and from the UK and months and months of graft later, we are now the proud, if tired, owners of two spectacular rental properties, Le Moulin and La Petite Maison.

Both properties have 5 spacious bedrooms, indeed, each bedroom suite in Le Moulin has around 400 sq ft of living space; imagine the average hotel suite and times by 3! A lot of the comments I get from guests usually start with “the photos don’t do it justice”.

Le Moulin is surprisingly large with modern bedrooms suites. Each of these gorgeous suites is furnished with a contemporary kingsize bed with memory foam mattress and features classic decorative touches. The suite is completed with a cosy sitting room with double sofa, flatscreen TV with both freeview and satellite, each with DVD player, with access to both English and French television and radio channels. Our guests can make use of the stocked hospitality trays with complimentary tea, coffee and cookies.

Each suite is complemented by a large stylish bathroom with deep soaking tub, separate shower unit, handwash basins, heated floors as well as being supplied with fluffy bath sheets, hand towels and complimentary luxury bathroom toiletries.

Experience the comfort of home whilst staying in one of our stylish suites, decorated with carefully selected artworks and furnishings.

The TV room on the ground floor has a 50-inch flatscreen – great for get togethers for the whole group – dvd player and a selection of games and books for both adults and children. There are two comfortable armchairs and occasional table tucked away next to a snug sofa and double sofabed.

We provide a cot and highchair for a younger guest in each property.

Complimentary WIFI is provided throughout.

The ground floor has a fully fitted kitchen – hob and oven, Rayburn, industrial size microwave, fridge – all crockery and cutlery is provided for our guests – cookware and ovenware, kitchen utensils and linen, kettle, coffee machine and coffee grinder, chopping boards, toaster.

The kitchen sits next to a large dining area that has sideboards with additional crockery and glassware, three 8-seater tables with dining chairs and a highchair for a younger guest. There is also a small seated area with a coffee table; leading outside from the dining area is a lovely decked area with patio table and chairs for guests to enjoy watching the sun set after a cosy evening meal…

The first floor houses a huge salon which can be used as a cinema/conference/meeting room. At the end of the salon is a private games room with table tennis table, pool table and table football. There are even two cosy bucket chairs and a table with reading lamp to sit and keep score as the pool game gets underway…

As previously mentioned, the second property on the site is La Petite Maison, a lovely modernised farmhouse.

Open the front door to the large entrance hall; the feature window in front reminds of a bygone era, looking out on the quaint rose garden with its raised stone patio area leading down to the gorgeous brick built bbq, for sunny days lazing in the garden…

All 5 of the stylish bedrooms in this property has a large double bed with pocket sprung mattress to ensure a good night’s sleep. We’ve ensured that each bedroom has ensuite facilities and the generously proportioned master suite has its own large bathroom with walk in shower, separate soaking bath, double handbasins and separate WC. We also provide a cot in the main bedroom for use by our younger guest (with a highchair in the dining area).

There is an additional WC on the ground floor and second floor landing.

For our guests’ comfort, each room has a hospitality tray with complimentary tea, coffee, cookies and hot drink making facilities and the bathrooms are all provided with fluffy bath sheets, hand towels and complimentary luxury toiletries.

The salon is spacious and airy, with a sofa and large sofabed and a quaint wood burner in the brick built fireplace. The TVs here in La Petite Maison all have freeview and satellite with English and French television and radio channels, and a dvd player. The dining area is furnished with a gorgeous, traditional wood dining table and an ecletic assortment of chairs.

Complimentary WIFI is provided throughout.

The fully equipped Leisure Complex is located across the courtyard, fronted by a picturesque patio area with seating.

The Leisure Complex is available for the use of all guests and has a generous 13m heated indoor pool, bubbling, heated jacuzzi, changing rooms and lockers for our guests’ use, along with showers and separate male/female WCs and handwash basin, gymnasium equipped with smith rack, treadmill, stationary bike, rowing machine and power plate. Leading upstairs to the games room with table tennis, snooker, pool tables and the gaming zone complete with Xbox and Wii consoles. #

We have a supply of Xbox, Wii games and dvds – we are happy to have these available for guests – please feel free to ask when booking.

Both Le Moulin and La Petite Maison have a utility room with washing machine and tumble drier, clothes airers and laundry baskets.

Both properties have access to irons, ironing boards and hair dryers.

The properties benefit from being located at the end of a large courtyard with secure entry via private gates.

The large main garden is approximately one third of an acre in size and the ample sized courtyard can hold approx 25+ cars.

There is a patio area in front of both properties where guests are invited to make use of the available tables and chairs. We also provide each property with a barbecue for guest use.

On confirmation of your reservation, all guests are provided with a detailed Welcome Pack with information about their accommodation and some of the local pursuits they may choose to explore as well as local restaurants, opening times of supermarkets, etc.

All bookings include bedding, towels, all kitchen utensils and linens.

We also supply our guests with a complimentary Welcome Basket with bottled water, milk, butter, tea and coffee, sugar, juice, bread, salt and pepper and on special occasions – birthdays, anniversaries, etc – we like to help our guests to celebrate by providing a bottle of bubbly for the adults and cookies for the younger guests 🙂
