La Merle Gite in Brittany offers:

Come and relax by the Blavet river in Central Brittany, with scenic walks and cycling along the tow path.  The twin bedroom has views over the garden and the river. The double bedroom with views of the garden and river.  The double bedroom has it’s own wash basin.

Plus – try Glamping In Our Shepherds Hut, sleeping 2 Adults and a child. Set in 10 acres of woodland and pasture alongside the stunning river Blavet, it has double glazed windows, solar panels to run a small refrigerator and some lights, also a composting toilet and a camping gas stove. A picnic bench and BBQ will be provided, plus fold away chairs for the veranda and sun loungers. There will be a shower and toilet block within close proximity, complete with hot and cold washing up facilities and a microwave. Separately there is a washing machine and a rotary airer.   Prices start from £295 per week.

LOW SEASON – Easter, May, and October – £350.00 per week
MID SEASON – June and September – £375.00 per week
HIGH SEASON – July and August – £495.00 per week
OTHER DATES – From £275.00 per week

CHRISTMAS, NEW YEAR – £375.00 per week

The Gite Changeover Day is a Saturday, but please telephone or e mail if you require another changeover day as this can sometimes be arranged, especially during the low season months.

Well behaved dogs welcome at a charge of £15.00 per week, there is a secure enclosure where you can leave your dog with our two by prior arrangement with us. Your dog cannot be left in the gite on their own.

Also all bed linen and tea towels are provided but we do ask if you can bring your own towels.

Local Attractions

St Nicolas des Eaux – this Gite is situated just outside the pretty village of St Nicolas des Eaux and here you will find one small hotels serving food, two bars, a Bistro and a creperie. Pedalos, canoes & kayaks can be hired in the village; should you wish to explore the river yourself. The 14th of July celebrations in St Nicolas are a wonderful sight, with stalls lining the village street, food , live music and Breton dancing, finished off with a magnificent firework display at midnight. The St Nicolas and the St Nicodime Pardons are also notable celebrations enjoyed by locals and visitors.

The Chapel St Gildas – a short walk along the river you will find the wonderful chapel of St Gildas which is built into the cliff. The chapel marks the site where Gildas an Irish monk preached Christianity to the local inhabitants in the 6th century. Gildas was noted in the local area for his ability to cure rabies.

Brittany is steeped in historical fact and legend. Culturally Bretagne thrives on its history, music and Breton dance are a major part of the numerous celebrations held throughout the year, in which visitors are welcome to take part.

The Napoleonic town of Pontivy is just 18km away and the Chateau Rohan is well worth a visit. You will also find cobbled streets with an interesting array of shops and cafes. Pontivy has a market on a Monday morning, where you will find an array of fresh produce & other wares.

Fishing The River Blavet – for those of you whose pleasure is fishing, the banks of the Blavet and its tributaries offer a great opportunity to while away the day in hope of a catch. The river is relatively slow and we are told by our local neighbours that it contains a variety of fish, carp, bream, roach, pike and zander. We can obtain a licence for you, or you can obtain one from the angling shop in Pontivy, the proprietor has a good command of English and is always willing to give advice.

You can also play golf at the nearby course at Rimaison, 10 minutes drive away.

Horse riding is available across the river at Beiuzy les Eaux.

A short drive away is the Camors adventure park, set within the forest, where you will find treetop walks and other activities.

The Brittany Coast & Islands – this Brittany Gite offers an ideal location for exploring central Brittany. We are only 40 mins from the coast with beautiful unspoilt beaches.
