Racine is a charming Charente country cottage converted from a 200 year old Charentaise barn. Racine has a large gated south facing terrace (with BBQ) overlooking two small lakes on one side and the large covered play and picnic area on the other.

Downstairs Racine benefits from open plan living and dining, with a well equipped kitchen. Upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms and a third bedroom with twin single beds, making it perfect for a family of 5 or 6. For winter holidays Racine features a wood burner as well as the comfort of modern infrared heating throughout.

Occupying an elevated private corner position in a small family complex of 5 gites, Racine can also be booked with its neighbouring 3 bedroom cottage ‘Baudelaire’ for families wishing to holiday alongside their friends.

The 18 acre shared grounds feature a fabulous heated pool, a sauna and a poolside WiFi lounge. There is also a summer house games room, covered play parks and picnic areas, giant draughts, play houses, table tennis, snooker, boules and indoor and outdoor toys and games for all ages. Nature lovers will enjoy exploring the meadows, woodland, pine forest and small lake where they can see many rare species of birds, birds of prey, butterflies and dragonflies daily. With country views in every direction La Croix Gites really is a haven for wildlife spotters.

There are safe and supervised sandy beaches only a mile away at the Lacs de Haute Charente. At the beaches you will find a variety of great value water sports for all the family (with discounts for our guests), horse and pony riding, mini-golf, play parks, weekly produce markets and family friendly snack bars and restaurants.

Easy by car – La Croix Gites are 5½ hours from Caen (Portsmouth ferry) or 9 hours from Calais (Dover Ferry). From more northerly UK ports, take the Zeebrugge ferry. Just 1½ hours further than Calais.

Easy by air – La Croix Gites are 45 minutes from Limoges airport.

Easy by train – The Eurostar from St Pancras via either Paris or Lille and TGV to Angouleme or Limoges takes 6 – 7 hours. But you will need a hire car from there
