Gite de Biraud Bas – An amazing place to make beautiful memories with your loved ones.

Set amongst the undulating landscapes of the Lot-et-Garonne, with stunning views of the surrounding orchards, fields and wild woods, the Gite de Biraud Bas is just a short walk from the picturesque village of Castelmoron on the Lot river with water sports, 4 cafes/restaurants and all amenities.

Accommodation

We have lovingly restored our property, keeping many original features such as its ancient wooden beams and exposed stone walls.  We have renovated with care and with the open plan livings areas and comforts such as exquisite bedding, Smart TV and sound system, and well equipped kitchen, you will find that the Gite de Biraud Bas balances tradition with chic modernity without sacrificing any homeliness or charm.

Outside Living

Outside you can admire the amazing vistas from your private swimming pool and enclosed private garden or simply enjoy a glass of local wine from the terraces as you look out to the cacophony of green fields and orchards around you. The wider Manoir gardens are vast and include a 400 year old Cedar tree dating back to when the Manoir was first built.

The outdoor terraces call you to linger over delicious food & wine as evening falls. Listen for the owls starting their evening hunt and other wild life settling down for the night.

Local Area

You can wander through the plum and kiwi orchards to the local village. Here you will find a couple of bakeries for your morning pastries and a great supermarket catering for most of your needs. There is also a friendly café serving coffee and drinks.  They also serve lunch daily in July and August plus dinner on Fridays and Saturdays.  The village also has an amazing “haute cuisine” restaurant.

Just across the bridge is a pretty beach on the banks of the River Lot where you can swim and hire boats in the summer months. There is a lively a beach bar/cafe.

Further Afield

Explore further afield to idyllic hilltop villages which come alive in the summer evenings with night markets serving amazing food and drinks. This area is well known not only for the delicious fruit but also some of France’s most famous vineyards where you can sample the fine wines of the region.

As well as the attractions for the little ones you can also hire bikes in the local village, play golf or go horse-riding through the magnificent countryside or simply explore some of France’s Plus Beaux Villages such as Pujols and Monflanquin or cross the border to Dordogne to discover some gems such as Monpazier, Issigeac and beautiful Bergerac, all within an hour.

That said, with such glorious views (you may even spot deer or falcons from your terrace), you don’t have to travel far from the house to be amazed by this captivating area.

We, Martyn & Liz, the Owners, live on site in a separate building together with our friendly dog, Burt. We will be there to help you with anything you need however we will keep discretely in our own part of the property during your stay other than for essential maintenance.
