Inside Les Buoysses…

Entering through the gates there is a large gravelled courtyard area with space for parking and games such as boules or badminton

Entering the front door, you are in the DINING ROOM (not currently pictured) with large dining table, seating 6 comfortably.  There is a wood burner.

Off the Dining room is access to the 1st floor Master Suite, the Kitchen and the Sitting room.

In the SITTING ROOM  is the Television and comfortable seating arranged around the woodburner, and there is also a desk for anyone requiring to work. A door opens onto the courtyard.

Stairs up from the Dining Room lead to the MASTER BEDROOM SUITE, with double bedroom, including TV, en suite bathroom with shower and wc and a walk in Wardrobe/ Dressing room

There are TWO DOUBLE BEDROOMS on separate mezzanines above the Sitting Rooms with blinds and screens. One of these has a supplementary single bed to offer some flexibility with accommodation.

The DOWNSTAIRS BATHROOM and also a separate WC are between the Sitting Room and the Dining Room.

The well equipped KITCHEN includes oven, induction hob, microwave and a good selection of appliances and equipment. This kitchen is all electric, but in the adjacent CONSERVATORY there is a second kitchen with gas hob, fridge and workspace.

The Conservatory overlooks the pool, and sliding doors open directly onto the pool terrace. On sunny winter afternoons this south and west facing conservatory is extremely pleasant to sit in, or if kept closed on sunny spring and autumn afternoon the residual heat lasts well into the evening of the cooler days.

Outside Les Buoysses….

Outdoors at Les Buoysses there is plenty of space within the fenced garden which is is secured by an electric gate.

The main outdoor feature is the 8 x 4m pool, exclusive to Guests, which has integral steps and also a hard cover for security.
The shaded conservatory overlooks the pool, or there are nearby trees and shrubs offering shade making pool supervision easy where there are younger children using the pool.

There is also a level grassed area for ball games. A table tennis table and boules are provided – the gravelled courtyard makes an excellent pitch!

Beside the door from the yard into the Sitting room is large built in barbecue, and there is also a gas plancha available for outdoor cooking: Tables and sunshades are provided for eating outdoors, and the patio outside the kitchen window is a perfect place to enjoy an outdoor summer breakfast in the morning sun.

It is a short walk or cycle ride to the old Fumel to Cahors railway line, parts of which have been converted into cycle and footpaths, and this is where cyclists join the Vallée du Lot cycle route

A walk of 5 minutes will get you into Duravel with a reasonable selection of shops, groceries and restaurants available, including an excellent boulangerie for the freshest breakfast bread. For supermarkets and larger shops, there is a very large E Leclerc store at Montayral about 5km away, or other supermarkets and shops at Fumel and Prayssac a little further away.

There are also excellent markets nearby: The Thursday market at Monsempron-Libos is a large general market for all things you could think of, and the Prayssac Market on Fridays is known for its excellent selection of quality foods, both fresh and cooked.

Around the area….

Much activity in the area surrounds the river Lot with kayaking, fishing, boat trips and more available at several points along the river.

Les Buoysses is midway along the Vallée du Lot cycle route that runs along the Lot valley, and the route can be accessed within 200m of the house, or for more testing cycling, immediately north of Duravel the landscape rises into the chestnut covered hills of the southernmost Périgord and Bouriane, or across the river and over the ridge is the beautiful rolling countryside of the Quercy Blanc around Tournon d’Agenais and Montaigu de Quercy.  Bicycles can be hired locally if you do not have your own.

Les Bouysses overlooks vineyards, and one of the nearest neighbours is the Clos du Chene winery which is open for tasting and purchase of its wines. Clos du Chene is just one of literally hundreds of wineries within a few miles of Duravel, close to the heart of the Cahors AOC wine-producing area with a reputation for deep red wines principally from Malbec grapes.

This area of southwest France with a range of soils is ideal for a wide range of fruits, vegetables, and other crops: besides acres of soft fruit orchards, you will see nut groves, fields of melons, vegetables, and course sunflowers and cereals.

All of these will be available at local markets held somewhere near every day of the week: Prayssac market on a Friday has the finest selection of food vendors of any market in the area, and Montsempron Libos on a Thursday the widest selection of stalls of all types.

Much food also finds its way into restaurants, and there is a very good choice of places to eat out at very reasonable prices.

Duravel is an excellent base to travel in any direction with the spectacular limestone features and caves to the east around Cahors, the level Vale of Garonne to the west, the chestnut covered hills of the Périgord Noir and Bouriane to the north, and the rolling countryside of the Quercy Blanc to the south. It is an area rich in history, natural history and more to keep the inquisitive and observant happy.

For a city experience, Toulouse with its history, food and aerospace is around 90 minutes away by car, and Bordeaux, arguably the wine capital of the world, a little further: Both have riches of architecture and culture and plenty to explore.
