 Local Attractions

Just a short stroll along the riverside path is Jaulgonne village with its good mix of shops – well able to meet most if not all of your daily needs.

Venture a little further and the local region, steeped in the history of two world wars and rich in chateaux and champagne houses, provides much to see and do.

Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris (previously Euro Disney) is best reached by car. it is a very straightforward drive using the autoroute A4 (direction Paris) for most of the way and you will usually be there in less than an hour.  As well as the renowned and numerous thrills and spectacles of the theme park itself, the surrounding area has many visitor attractions and these are well described on the Disneyland Paris website. They include the Museum of the Great War in Meaux and the extensive indoor shopping mall ‘Val d’Europe’ at Marne La Vallée. This has a vaste number of clothing, designer and other outlets and includes technology stores such as an Apple store and FNAC.

Paris

Thinking of a day or two in Paris? It is easy to take the train from Chateau Thierry – allow a journey time of about 1hr 30m from Jaulgonne to Paris city centre (use the parking at Chateau Thierry Station on the south side of the river). Or you can drive the whole way – the drive normally takes much the same length of time, but do avoid peak periods. A further option is to park at Disneyland Paris and take the RER from there, this route is very straightforward but typically takes 15-30 mins longer overall.
