There are three cosy gîtes, (stone cottages) each fully set up for comfortable family living, with heating for winter lets. Gites 1 and 2 sleep 4/5 people, and Gite 3 sleeps 6/8. There are lawned gardens to front and rear, a sun terrace overlooking the pool, and far-reaching views of our valley.

The 12 x 5 metre pool with Roman steps and built-in jacuzzi is surrounded by a spacious lawn and loungers. It is checked and cleaned frequently, and complies with the stringent French safety standards. There is also a full-size trampoline, barbecues, boules, and a large selection of bicycles with safety helmets and child seats for you to use at no extra charge.

There is a library of books and DVDs, a games room, a painting studio (for adult use) and free WiFi broadband access throughout.

At night, the low light pollution affords a fascinating panorama of stars – they don’t call this ‘the forgotten France’ for nothing; the Creuse is one of the most uncrowded parts of the whole country.

We live in our own separate accommodation on the premises – there to provide friendly help when required, but discretely out of your way.

Local Attractions

We are situated on the edge of a pretty hamlet within a short drive (or bike ride!) of local shops, restaurants and bars, yet with 7 acres of our own private gardens and peaceful meadows. There is a modern supermarket with petrol station, car wash, and a wide selection of fresh meat and vegetables just 4 miles up the road at Eguzon.

The nearby villages of Crozant with its castle ruins, and Fresselines made famous by Monet, boast spectacular views of the Rivers Creuse and Sedelle. Lake Chambon with its safe sandy beaches, fishing, water-sports, and lakeside restaurants and bars is only 10 minutes away. There are several nearby equestrian centres open to the public, and golf and tennis are also catered for. For the determined sightseer, the ancient cities of Poitiers, Châteauroux and Limoges are within 90 minutes, and there are historical towns and villages with mediæval quarters closer by at Argenton, Guéret, La Souterraine, St. Benoît-du-Sault, and Gargilesse-Dampierre – favourite of writer George Sand.
