Ski Holidays in Alpes D’Huez

The ski resort of L’Alpe d’Huez is to be found high in the central French Alps and is sometimes known as L’Ile au Soleil’ – the Island in the sun. It’s the fifth largest ski area in France, located in the Isère département in the Rhône-Alpes region and its history dates back to 1936. This area, by the way, is also famous for being regularly used in the Tour de France cycle race.

Alpe d’Huez appeals to all levels of skiers, including advanced, with 250km of pistes extending over an altitude range of 2,200m. The top station, Pic Blanc (3330m) in the Alpe d’Huez area, offers spectacular views across the Alps including Mont Blanc, Mont Cervin and the Meije.

The ski resort links the villages of Vaujany, Oz, Villard-Reculas and Auris-en-Oisans to provide its visitors with well over 200km of piste to explore.
